Arkansas Children's Hospital is growing to create more space for clinics and patient rooms to provide more opportunities to care for children in Arkansas and beyond. We are currently in the preparation phase of a project to construct a new five-story South Wing to provide an additional 100,000 square feet of patient space. The information on this page will help you keep up with changing traffic patterns around the campus. As always, the safety of our patients, families and visitors remains our top priority.

Breezeway and Maryland Street Are Closed
The breezeway between the hospital and Sturgis buildings is temporarily closed to all traffic. This area will remain closed through the completion of utility work in this area. The breezeway will re-open April 7 to emergency traffic only (see above).

Patient detour through Sturgis Building to South & Southwest Entrances
There is a Detour through the first floor of the Sturgis Building that will allow families to pass through Sturgis to get to the South Entrance or the Southwest entrance of the hospital. Again, there will be signage and additional staff to help direct people to their locations.

Wolfe Street Open for Emergency Vehicles Only
Wolfe Street is open to two-way traffic for emergency vehicles only. Wolfe Street will close to all traffic again on April 7. Ambulance traffic will be re-routed up Maryland (9th street) to the new reconfigured breezeway beginning April 7.

Marshall Street Open in front of Main Hospital Entrance
In an effort to make traffic flow easier during our new construction projects, the north end of Marshall Street (directly in front of the hospital) reopened on Tuesday, July 31, to provide improved access to the new temporary drop-off entrance to the Emergency Department. Traffic exiting I-630 onto 8th street is now able to turn onto Marshall Street only to access the front of ACH. Thru traffic is still prohibited as road blocks remain in place at 10th Street.
